Apple’s Tap to Pay on iPhone service is making its way to five new European countries, further enhancing the accessibility of contactless payment solutions. Initially launched in the United States in May 2022, this feature allows businesses to accept payments directly on their iPhones without the need for external hardware, such as card readers. This is a game-changer for small business owners looking for a simple, cost-effective way to handle transactions.
New Countries and Partnerships
The new rollout brings Tap to Pay to Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Monaco, and Norway. Apple has partnered with a variety of financial institutions and payment platforms across these countries. In Estonia and Lithuania, SumUp and Revolut are supporting the service, while SumUp operates alone in Latvia. Monaco is working with Adyen and BNP Paribas, and Norway has a broader range of partners, including Adyen, Nexi, PayPal, Stripe, SumUp, Surfboard Payments, and Viva.com.
Smooth, Secure Transactions
Tap to Pay integrates perfectly with Apple Pay and supports major credit and debit cards like Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. In Norway, the service also works with Surfboard Payments, further extending its flexibility. Apple ensures that transactions are not only fast but secure, keeping privacy at the forefront while providing a seamless checkout process.
A Step Toward a Cashless Future
The expansion to these five countries marks a significant milestone in Apple’s global rollout of this feature. With Tap to Pay now available in 43 regions worldwide, the company continues to solidify its commitment to enabling cashless solutions. Apple has been making waves in Europe, already extending the service to eight other EU countries earlier in 2025.
As more consumers opt for digital wallets and contactless payment methods, Apple’s Tap to Pay is positioning itself as an essential tool for businesses and a key player in the future of in-person payments.
