Ben Stiller is returning to acting with a new drama series on Apple TV+ titled The Off Weeks. Known for his recent success as the director of Severance, Stiller is now stepping into the role of Gus Adler, a divorced father juggling the complexities of shared custody and the challenges of a new romantic relationship.
The show follows Gus as he navigates his alternating weeks with his children. During his “on weeks,” he struggles to balance fatherhood and his efforts to maintain some semblance of normalcy in his life. In contrast, his “off weeks” bring a dramatic shift as he embarks on a passionate affair with Stella West, played by Jessica Chastain. Stella’s arrival introduces tension, as Gus finds himself torn between his responsibilities and the allure of a new love.
The series is helmed by director Michael Showalter, with Alissa Nutting serving as the showrunner. Their vision for the show combines emotional storytelling with elements of psychological suspense, offering a unique blend of drama and intrigue.
Apple TV+ continues to strengthen its original content lineup, with The Morning Show receiving a renewal for a fifth season and Severance securing multiple Emmy awards. Since its launch, the platform has garnered over 620 awards and nearly 3,000 nominations, cementing its place as a major player in original programming.
Stiller’s return to acting adds another highlight to Apple TV+’s growing catalog, alongside his involvement in the documentary Stiller & Meara: Nothing is Lost, which reflects on the legacy of his parents.
While a release date has yet to be announced, The Off Weeks is already generating buzz. With Stiller and Chastain leading the cast and a talented creative team behind the scenes, the show is poised to be one of Apple TV+’s standout offerings in the near future.
