Apple’s Car Key feature, first introduced in 2020, has steadily gained traction across the auto industry. By turning an iPhone or Apple Watch into a digital key, drivers can unlock, lock, and even start their cars without a physical fob. In recent months, the list of supported vehicles has expanded significantly, covering more brands and models than ever before.
Expanded Support Across Major Automakers
Leading manufacturers like Audi, BMW, Hyundai, Kia, Genesis, Mercedes-Benz, and Volvo have all deepened their integration with Apple’s Car Key. Audi’s 2025 A5, Q5, Q6, and A6 now support the feature, while BMW continues to be one of the strongest adopters, with compatibility reaching back to 2021 models, including its electric lineup such as the iX and i4.
Hyundai has added several newer models, including the Palisade, Elantra, and IONIQ series, while Kia has extended support to the Telluride, Seltos, EV6, and Carnival.
More Brands Join the Movement
The rollout isn’t limited to the big names. MINI’s latest Cooper and Countryman are now compatible, and Genesis offers support for the GV60, G70, and G90. Mercedes-Benz has activated Car Key in its 2024 E-Class and 2025 EQ series. Other automakers entering the fold include RAM, Polestar, Lotus, and Volvo with selected vehicles.
What’s Ahead
Apple confirmed at WWDC 2025 that more manufacturers are preparing to launch Car Key support. Upcoming additions are expected from Acura, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Porsche, Lucid, Tata, and Rivian, signaling that the trend is only gaining momentum.
