Apple has announced that its upcoming Live Translation feature will be available not only on the latest AirPods Pro 3 but also on the AirPods 4 and AirPods Pro 2. This upgrade is made possible due to the H2 chip and the support of Apple Intelligence, expanding the reach of this innovative technology.
How It Works
To activate Live Translation, users can simply pinch both stems of their AirPods simultaneously. Once enabled, the feature automatically translates spoken language into the selected target language. Apple showcased this functionality at its September event, demonstrating how it can effortlessly bridge language gaps in real-time conversations.
Languages Supported at Launch
The initial launch of Live Translation will include a limited set of languages, such as:
- English (US and UK)
- French (France)
- Spanish (Spain)
- German
- Portuguese (Brazil)
However, it’s worth noting that some of these language options may not be immediately available in the European Union.
Device Requirements
To take advantage of the Live Translation feature, users will need an iPhone 15 Pro or newer running iOS 26. The feature will be pre-enabled on AirPods Pro 3, while AirPods 4 and AirPods Pro 2 will receive the update as part of the iOS 26 rollout on September 15.
Apple’s Vision for Smarter Audio
With this addition, Apple is making a significant move towards incorporating artificial intelligence into its audio products. By extending Live Translation to more than just the latest models, Apple ensures that a broader range of users can benefit from this cutting-edge feature, further enhancing the usability of its audio devices.
