With a custom photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor that measures blood flow 256 times per second, the earbuds can track your pulse directly from your ear. This feature supports over 50 workout types, including the ability to track calories burned, all without needing an Apple Watch. For Apple Fitness+ subscribers, the real-time workout data can be displayed on the iPhone screen, making the earbuds an even more integral part of Apple’s fitness ecosystem.
